FoU-Södertörn (The Research and Development Centre of southern Stockholm) is located in Tullinge.
FoU-Södertörn is financed by seven municipalities Botkyrka, Haninge, Huddinge, Nynäshamn, Södertälje, Tyresö and Värmdö. FoU-Södertörn has also made an agreement with two other municipalities, Nacka and Salem, concerning Research and Education.

The guidelines of activity is prescribed by an Executive Group which consists of two representatives from each municipality where the content of regular work is directed. A Reference Group consists of local politicians from each municipality and the function of this group is to be informed in matters concerning FoU-Södertörn.

The fields of activity is research in the sphere of social work, social psychiatri and welfare services for disabled persons. The aim of FoU-Södertörn is to develop and evaluate methods in these areas in a direct connection with the field of work.

The activities at FoU-Södertörn can be divided in three sectors:

• Research Projects initiated by social workers.
• External projects as evaluations and counselling.
• Education and seminars.
